Demolition Derby

1981

My mom found this car for me from the Plain City junk yard.  It was an inline 6 cylinder which can run forever without water..

After the first derby, we learned some things about how to make the car more suitable for bumping with the big engine boys.  I wasn’t able to stay free and got pinned and knocked out early.

Next, we took the car to another derby… I forget where though.  Notice that this time the car is quite a bit shorter.  Notice the trophy on the hood!!!   Hard to tell from this picture but the passenger door was interfering with the steering wheel by the end of the final heat… it was one narrow car!

1983

A few years later, my brother in law donated his college car to the cause… This little car also had an inline-6 but was considerably smaller… a new tactic was needed.  Here I sat with an attitude.

I ran two heats with this one.  Made it to the finals but was knocked out by the big cars.  I did trophy for “Most Aggressive Driver 1983 Rush-Way Circuit”.

Not much left of this car.
