Just keep on riding

October, 2012

I started cyclocross racing in 2007 as it was just starting out in the Columbus area. I started on a FUJI Comp Pro from Performance Bicycles in Dublin. While I actually loved the bike construction and components, I had taken bad advice and bought down a frame size from my road bike. It was a 56 cm while my road bike was a 58. It turns out that the manufactures had switched over and were actually making the cross bikes smaller to compensate so I was riding a small 56. I sold the bike. FUJI had started sponsoring a pro team and were making the leap from the low cost manufacturer to a traditional name brand. This left their bikes in the same price range as a Trek, Cannondale or Specialized.

I had very good experience with the Neuvation wheels from John Neugent in California and he had been advertising a hydro-formed aluminum cyclocross bike with excellent components for a very attractive price. I ordered an FCX100 and was not disappointed. It is a clear coated aluminum frame with SRAM Red components. Carbon seat post and carbon bars round out the bling. I am quite pleased with the bike although not as pleased with my racing performance.
